Listen to 2 Corinthians 7:5-16
5For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
6Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
7And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.
8For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
9Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
10For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
11For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
12Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
13Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.
14For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth.
15And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.
16I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.

5For when we came into Macedonia,(A) we had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn(B)—conflicts on the outside, fears within.(C) 6But God, who comforts the downcast,(D) comforted us by the coming of Titus,(E) 7and not only by his coming but also by the comfort you had given him. He told us about your longing for me, your deep sorrow, your ardent concern for me, so that my joy was greater than ever.
8Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter,(F) I do not regret it. Though I did regret it—I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while— 9yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation(G) and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern,(H) what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter. 12So even though I wrote to you,(I) it was neither on account of the one who did the wrong(J) nor on account of the injured party, but rather that before God you could see for yourselves how devoted to us you are. 13By all this we are encouraged.
In addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to see how happy Titus(K) was, because his spirit has been refreshed by all of you. 14I had boasted to him about you,(L) and you have not embarrassed me. But just as everything we said to you was true, so our boasting about you to Titus(M) has proved to be true as well. 15And his affection for you is all the greater when he remembers that you were all obedient,(N) receiving him with fear and trembling.(O) 16I am glad I can have complete confidence in you.(P)

5For indeed, (A)when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but (B)we were troubled on every side. (C)Outside were conflicts, inside were fears. 6Nevertheless (D)God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by (E)the coming of Titus, 7and not only by his coming, but also by the [a]consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us of your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.
8For even if I made you (F)sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; (G)though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while. 9Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10For (H)godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; (I)but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what (J)clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be (K)clear in this matter. 12Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, (L)but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you.
The Joy of Titus
13Therefore we have been comforted in your comfort. And we rejoiced exceedingly more for the joy of Titus, because his spirit (M)has been refreshed by you all. 14For if in anything I have boasted to him about you, I am not ashamed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our boasting to Titus was found true. 15And his affections are greater for you as he remembers (N)the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him. 16Therefore I rejoice that (O)I have confidence in you in everything.

5For even (A)when we came into Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were afflicted at every turn—(B)fighting without and fear within. 6But (C)God, who comforts the downcast, (D)comforted us by the coming of Titus, 7and not only by his coming but also by the comfort with which he was comforted by you, as he told us of your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more. 8For (E)even if I made you grieve with my letter, I do not regret it—though (F)I did regret it, for I see that that letter grieved you, though only for a while. 9As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but (G)because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us.
10For (H)godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas (I)worldly grief produces death. 11For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, (J)what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter. 12So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one (K)who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God. 13Therefore (L)we are comforted.
And besides our own comfort, we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit (M)has been refreshed by you all. 14For (N)whatever boasts I made to him about you, I was not put to shame. But just as everything we said to you (O)was true, so also our boasting before Titus has proved true. 15And his affection for you is even greater, as he remembers (P)the obedience of you all, how you received him with fear and trembling. 16I rejoice, because I have complete (Q)confidence in you.
